The King Ridge Grasshopper is a legendary ride in Sonoma County, challenging cyclists with steep climbs, thrilling descents, and varied terrain. Known for its rugged beauty, the course winds through remote mountain roads and offers breathtaking coastal views. It’s an unforgettable adventure that tests endurance and skill, capturing the gritty spirit of Northern California cycling. For 20 years all of the Hoppers were in Sonoma County. We’re calling this loop the “Greatest Hits” as it includes classic CRRs; (Certified Ribbon Roads) Joy Rd. Coleman Valley Rd. Meyers Grade. Fort Ross Rd. Kruse Ranch. Seaview Rd. King Ridge Rd. Can you hear the soundtrack playing? A mixture of reggae, yacht rock and Grateful Dead maybe. With a perfect blend of adventure, exploration and shred, this is a Grasshopper not to be missed.
The Route
Riders will roll on their own or in small groups in order to arrive shortly before their designated start times. The first timed segment begins at the bottom of Joy Rd. The segment will open at 9 am. Riders will be scored based on the cumulative time for the 3 segments (long course) and 2 segments (short course).
This format and course will ensure that we have an amazing ride on open roads. There are no timed segments on California State Highways.
Riders may start at any time on Segments 2 and 3. Please don’t gather at the start of the segments in order to keep the road clear and avoid errors in chip readings.
The Short Course includes King Ridge, and except for a different start will follow the Long Course Route and includes 2 Segments, and 2 Aide Stations.
Segment 1: 10.8 mi. 1,747 ft (Long Course ONLY)
Segment 2: 4.9 mi. 1,291 ft (Segment 1 for Short Course)
Segment 3: 7 mi. 1,743 ft. (Segment 2 for Short Course)
All Hopper routes are open and riders must obey all traffic laws and rules.

When registering, the team captain should create the team first.
How to create a team on movemint
Once the team is created, other riders can select that team name from the drop-down menu during registration.
Teams or groups of 5 or more planning to register together can reach out to us before registering to receive $10 off for each rider
All team members must register under the same exact team name for results to be grouped correctly.
Teams are an awesome way to build camaraderie, represent your community, and bring extra energy to every Grasshopper.

Grasshoppers have always been about adventure, exploration and pushing your limits. Come to race, or come to adventure and explore. Riders may choose their category and licenses are not required

Bike Choice + Setup
This a classic Hopper road stage. The only dirt/gravel section is Kruse Ranch Rd. which can easily be done on a road bike. Whether you are on a road or gravel bike we’d recommend 30/32 slicks for the day.
Note: E-Bikes are not permitted at this event.
