Donate to Fairfield Bicycle SafetyA Bike Rodeo will be set up to teach the kids in our community the skills and precautions necessary to ride a bicycle safely. Each student is fitted for a helmet and given a free one. Lessons are taught by volunteers about a number of important safety concerns.

Donate to Support the Dream TeamIn 1996, a concern for disadvantaged and at-risk youth caused a small group of Des Moines cyclists to discuss how these youngsters could participate in RAGBRAI. Working as a grassroots organization, they successfully obtained equipment, recruited, and trained youth to participate in Dream Team activities in1997. The Dream Team is a five month program that partners youth with adult mentors to provide a unique opportunity to build relationships, achieve personal growth, and learn life skills. The program culminates with a week long bicycle ride across Iowa and the emotional experience of riding from the Missouri to the Mississippi River. The young adults in the program build confidence and self esteem while learning that healthy goals can be attained with sufficient planning and preparation.

Sweeper
Saturday, October 04, 2025
Sweeper are our favorite people and riders and racers love them. Interested in being loved by all, well than this is the job for you.
As a sweeper, your job is to ride the course and support any rider that might be stopped along the course. You stay behind the last rider and make sure that everyone is off the course. You also pick up the signs we use to mark the course. It's a great role for someone that loves helping people, enjoys driving in some of the most beautiful parts of Iowa, and can help folks load a bicycle onto a truck or bike rack. We do use MMR, Class B, and dirt roads, so you should be comfortable traversing "sketchy" areas.
Aid Station 1
Saturday, October 04, 2025
Aid stations are the oasis of support and refueling on a gravel race. At the basic level, you're there to make sure folks get the food and drink they need. But, the best aid station hosts know how to make that experience their own to cheer and encourage racers to have the best day in the saddle.

Evening Packet Pickup
Saturday, October 04, 2025
Like to give people stuff and check names off of lists? Than this is the job for you. The night before the race, folks drop by to grab their bib, check-in, pick up shirts and swag, and hang out. It's a great time and it's fun to meet all the folks excited for the race.
Morning Check-in
Saturday, October 04, 2025
Some folks can only check-in for the race in the morning, so your job is to be a bright and early cup of good cheer for those getting their bib, checking in, and picking up their swag.
Setup
Saturday, October 04, 2025
It's not a lot, but setup is faster with a few folks helping. Join us for some early morning setup and bring a head lamp.
