About Rough Road 100
The Rough Road 100 is a Spring Classic-inspired road/gravel bike event conceived in 2014. From the beginning, we've created a community of welcoming cyclists and have become a Midwest yearly staple for cyclists of all varieties.
Starting and finishing in the welcoming town of Morris, Illinois — about an hour outside of Chicago — our courses wind through classic farm country roads. You'll face some short punchy climbs, wind on the open portions, and a run into the finish on the Historic I&M Canal tow path.
Courses are a 63% road / 37% gravel surface mixture for both the 100K and 64K distances, making this event friendly to nearly every style of bike and bike rider. If you're gravel curious, cycling curious, or want to level up to your next distance — come out and be surrounded by your peers in the cycling community.
This is an ALL INCLUSIVE event as it has been from inception. Early April in the Midwest is always a weather gamble — snow, rain, wind, sunny, balmy — it's part of the fun and part of the challenge to experience that camaraderie with those who toed the line!
Race Day Schedule:
6:00–7:30am — Packet pick-up at Keg Grove Brewing, 222 Waupaunsee St, Morris IL 60450
8:00am — Start time
Post-race — Awards presentation after high noon at Keg Grove Brewing
Equal payouts: top 5 open/USAC men and women (100K) $500/350/250/200/150

Charity Partner: We Care of Grundy County — hosts the largest food pantry in Grundy County. Consider a $3 monetary donation, which allows WCofGC to purchase up to 9 non-perishable food items!
USA Cycling Permitted event. No on-course support due to distances, but mini-marts are available in Marseilles and Seneca. Approximately 6 intersections with law enforcement present for safe passage. Course is well marked with ground arrows, turn signage, and turn confirmation signs.
