RACE WAIVER AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY, ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT

ATTENTION: THIS AGREEMENT INCLUDES A RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND WAIVER OF LEGAL RIGHTS INCLUDING WAIVER OF YOUR RIGHT TO SUE GOODLIFE ADVENTURES, LLC AND OTHER PARTIES. DO NOT SIGN THIS AGREEMENT UNLESS YOU HAVE CAREFULLY READ AND UNDERSTAND THE ENTIRE AGREEMENT. YOU SHOULD SEEK THE ADVICE OF LEGAL COUNSEL IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND ANY PORTION OF THIS AGREEMENT.
In consideration of my acceptance into the 2026 Lauf Gravel Worlds cycling and running event (the "Event") by GoodLife Adventures, LLC ("GLA"), I, for myself, and on behalf of my spouse, children, guardians, heirs, executors, administrators, successors and assigns, hereby agree to and make the following representations pursuant to this Race Waiver and Release of Liability, Assumption of Risk and Indemnity Agreement ("Agreement").
1. PHYSICAL FITNESS AND PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY
I hereby represent and certify that I am in good health and proper physical condition to participate in the Event. I acknowledge and agree that it is my responsibility to determine whether I am physically fit and healthy enough to safely participate in the Event. Further, if at any time prior to or during the Event I feel unable to continue my participation or observe hazards that would make my continued participation a danger to myself or others, I acknowledge and agree that it is my sole responsibility to withdraw myself from the Event and notify the appropriate parties.
2. OPEN ROADS — ACKNOWLEDGMENT AND UNDERSTANDING
I UNDERSTAND AND ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE EVENT TAKES PLACE ENTIRELY ON OPEN, PUBLIC ROADS THAT ARE NOT CLOSED TO MOTOR VEHICLE TRAFFIC. This means:
Motor vehicles — including cars, trucks, farm equipment, and agricultural machinery — may be traveling on the same roads as Event participants at all times during the Event.
Participants may encounter vehicles approaching from the front, rear, or from intersecting roads at any time without warning.
Gravel roads may be narrow, with limited or no shoulder, and may not provide adequate space for a motor vehicle and a cyclist to occupy the road simultaneously.
Dust from motor vehicles or other participants may reduce visibility to near zero at times.
I am solely responsible for my own safety with respect to motor vehicle traffic on the course.
3. TRAFFIC LAWS — MANDATORY COMPLIANCE
I UNDERSTAND AND AGREE THAT I AM REQUIRED TO OBEY ALL APPLICABLE TRAFFIC LAWS OF THE STATE OF NEBRASKA AT ALL TIMES DURING THE EVENT, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
STOP SIGNS: I understand that failure to stop at a stop sign may result in a collision with a motor vehicle, serious bodily injury, or death. I understand that cross-traffic at intersections has the right of way and will not stop or yield to Event participants.
TRAFFIC SIGNALS: I must obey all traffic signals, including red lights and yield signs.
RIGHT-OF-WAY: I must yield the right-of-way to motor vehicles when required by law. I understand that motor vehicle drivers may not be aware of the Event and may not expect cyclists on the road.
RIDING POSITION: I must ride as far to the right side of the roadway as practicable and in compliance with Nebraska law. I must not impede the normal flow of traffic.
NO DRAFTING BEHIND VEHICLES: I must not draft behind or ride dangerously close to any motor vehicle.
I UNDERSTAND THAT PARTICIPATION IN A RACE EVENT DOES NOT EXEMPT ME FROM ANY TRAFFIC LAW. I AM NOT GIVEN SPECIAL RIGHTS OR PRIVILEGES ON PUBLIC ROADS BY VIRTUE OF MY PARTICIPATION IN THIS EVENT. A RACE NUMBER DOES NOT GRANT RIGHT-OF-WAY.
4. SPECIFIC HAZARDS AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK
I fully acknowledge and understand that my participation in the Event involves inherent risks and dangers including, but not limited to, serious bodily injury, permanent disability, and death. I specifically acknowledge the following hazards:
Road and Surface Hazards
Loose gravel, sand, mud, potholes, washboard surfaces, and rutted roads
Railroad crossings, cattle guards, and bridge decks with uneven or slippery surfaces
Unmarked or poorly marked intersections, blind curves, and hills with limited sight distance
Road debris including rocks, broken glass, fence wire, and agricultural materials
Narrow roads, roads with no shoulder, and single-lane bridges
Weather Hazards
Extreme heat, humidity, and sun exposure leading to heat exhaustion or heat stroke
Sudden thunderstorms, lightning, high winds, hail, and flash flooding
Rain making gravel surfaces slippery and reducing visibility
Cold temperatures, especially at altitude or during early morning hours
Crosswinds on exposed roads that may push riders into traffic or off the road
Traffic and Vehicle Hazards
Motor vehicles traveling at highway speeds on shared roads
Farm equipment including tractors, combines, and grain trucks that are wide, slow-moving, and may not see cyclists
Vehicles pulling onto roads from driveways, fields, or unmarked access points
School buses, mail carriers, and delivery vehicles making frequent stops
Dogs and livestock that may chase or obstruct riders
Participant-Related Hazards
Collisions with other participants, particularly in group riding situations
Sudden stops or changes in direction by other riders
Fatigue-related impairment of judgment, reaction time, and bike handling
Dehydration, bonking, and other physiological failures during extended effort
Remote Location Hazards
Limited or no cell phone service in rural areas
Extended distance from emergency medical services
Limited access to water, shade, or shelter between aid stations
Isolation on remote roads where assistance may be significantly delayed
I EXPRESSLY ASSUME ALL SUCH RISKS AND RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY AND ALL DAMAGES, LIABILITIES, LOSS, OR EXPENSE I INCUR THAT ARE IN ANY WAY RELATED TO MY PARTICIPATION IN THE EVENT.
5. SAFETY EQUIPMENT AND PERSONAL PREPAREDNESS
I acknowledge and agree that:
I am required to wear a properly fitted and certified bicycle helmet at all times while riding during the Event.
I am responsible for ensuring my bicycle is in safe, mechanically sound condition prior to and during the Event.
I am responsible for carrying adequate hydration, nutrition, and emergency supplies for the distance and conditions.
I am responsible for knowing the course, including the location of intersections, turns, and potential hazards.
I am responsible for equipping my bicycle with front and rear lights if I will be riding in low-light conditions.
6. WAIVER OF NEGLIGENCE CLAIMS
I UNDERSTAND AND EXPRESSLY AGREE THAT I AM WAIVING ANY AND ALL CLAIMS BASED ON NEGLIGENCE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO CLAIMS OF NEGLIGENCE, RECKLESSNESS, OR BREACH OF ANY DUTY OF CARE, AGAINST ANY AND ALL OF THE FOLLOWING PARTIES (TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW):
GoodLife Adventures, LLC and its owners, officers, directors, members, managers, employees, agents, and volunteers
All Event sponsors, including safety sponsors, title sponsors, and promotional partners
All Event organizers, promoters, race directors, course marshals, and volunteers
The host city, host county, the State of Nebraska, and any associated governmental or municipal agencies providing Event support
Medical personnel, aid station volunteers, and emergency responders affiliated with the Event
Any and all other persons, entities, or organizations involved in the planning, promotion, operation, or support of the Event
This waiver applies regardless of whether the negligence, or breach of duty is alleged to have occurred before, during, or after the Event, and regardless of whether the claim arises from the design of the course, the condition of the roads, the provision or failure to provide warnings, the provision or failure to provide traffic control, the provision or failure to provide medical services, or any other act or omission by any of the above-named parties.
I UNDERSTAND THAT BY SIGNING THIS AGREEMENT, I AM GIVING UP MY RIGHT TO SUE ANY OF THE ABOVE-NAMED PARTIES FOR THEIR OWN NEGLIGENCE, AND I DO SO VOLUNTARILY AND WITH FULL KNOWLEDGE OF THE CONSEQUENCES.
7. RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND INDEMNIFICATION
I hereby waive, release, and covenant not to sue, and further agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless GLA, event organizers, promoters, sponsors (including safety sponsors), advertisers, the host city and county, the State of Nebraska, associated local agencies providing Event support, landowners whose property borders the course, and each of their respective affiliated entities, officers, directors, shareholders, members, managers, agents, volunteers, and employees (collectively, the "Released Parties"), with respect to any and all liability, claims, damages, causes of action, demands, or loss of any kind or nature arising out of or in any way related to my participation in the Event.
This release and indemnification includes, but is not limited to, claims arising from the negligence of the Released Parties, claims related to the condition of the roads or course, claims related to the actions or inactions of other Event participants, and claims related to any decision by the Released Parties regarding the conduct, modification, or cancellation of the Event.
8. MEDICAL AUTHORIZATION
In the event of an emergency, I authorize Event medical personnel to provide first aid and, if deemed necessary, to arrange for emergency medical transport. I understand that I am financially responsible for any medical treatment or transport I receive in connection with the Event.
9. MEDIA RELEASE
I hereby grant to GLA and Event sponsors and licensees the right to the free use of my name, voice, likeness, and picture in any print, broadcast, advertising, promotion, telecast, or other account of the Event.
10. EVENT MODIFICATIONS AND CANCELLATION
I acknowledge and agree that my entry fee is non-refundable and that GLA holds the right to make and enforce changes to the Event at any time and for any reason, including, but not limited to, dangerous weather, natural disasters, road conditions, or requests from local officials. I further acknowledge and agree that GLA is in no way responsible for any expenses that I may incur as a result of the cancellation, modification, or rerouting of the Event or otherwise related to my planned participation.
11. GOVERNING LAW AND DISPUTE RESOLUTION
This Agreement supersedes any prior or other agreement or representation, oral or written, which conflicts with any terms herein. I agree that any claim or dispute arising out of or otherwise related in any way to my participation in the Event will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Nebraska, without regard to conflict of law provisions. I agree that any legal action must be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Lancaster County, Nebraska.
12. SEVERABILITY
If any provision of this Agreement is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
PARTICIPANT ACKNOWLEDGMENT
I HEREBY ATTEST AND CERTIFY THAT:
I HAVE CAREFULLY READ, UNDERSTAND, AND AGREE TO THE FOREGOING TERMS AND CONDITIONS.
I UNDERSTAND THAT THE EVENT TAKES PLACE ON OPEN PUBLIC ROADS WITH LIVE MOTOR VEHICLE TRAFFIC.
I UNDERSTAND THAT I MUST OBEY ALL TRAFFIC LAWS, INCLUDING STOPPING AT EVERY STOP SIGN AND OBEYING ALL TRAFFIC SIGNALS.
I UNDERSTAND THAT A RACE NUMBER DOES NOT GIVE ME THE RIGHT-OF-WAY OVER MOTOR VEHICLES.
I UNDERSTAND THE SPECIFIC HAZARDS DESCRIBED IN THIS AGREEMENT AND VOLUNTARILY ASSUME ALL RISKS.
I AM WAIVING ANY AND ALL CLAIMS OF NEGLIGENCE AGAINST THE RACE, ITS ORGANIZERS, SPONSORS, AND ALL OTHER RELEASED PARTIES.
BY SIGNING THIS AGREEMENT, I AM GIVING UP CERTAIN LEGAL RIGHTS I MAY OTHERWISE HAVE AGAINST THE RELEASED PARTIES.
I HAVE ENTERED INTO THIS AGREEMENT FREELY AND VOLUNTARILY, WITHOUT INDUCEMENT.

PARENT/GUARDIAN CONSENT AND WAIVER FOR MINOR PARTICIPANTS
INSTRUCTIONS: This section must be completed by a parent or legal guardian if the participant is under 18 years of age. The parent or guardian must read the entire Agreement above before signing below. Both the minor participant AND the parent/guardian must sign for the minor's participation to be permitted.
I, the undersigned parent or legal guardian of the minor participant named below, hereby represent and warrant that I am the parent or legal guardian of the minor and have full legal authority to execute this Agreement on the minor's behalf.
I HAVE READ THE ENTIRE AGREEMENT ABOVE, INCLUDING ALL SECTIONS REGARDING OPEN ROADS, TRAFFIC LAWS, SPECIFIC HAZARDS, ASSUMPTION OF RISK, WAIVER OF NEGLIGENCE CLAIMS, AND RELEASE OF LIABILITY. I understand the nature of the Event, the risks involved, and the obligations of participants. I believe the minor is physically fit and sufficiently skilled to participate safely.
I HEREBY AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING ON BEHALF OF THE MINOR:
ASSUMPTION OF RISK: I acknowledge and accept, on behalf of the minor, all risks described in this Agreement, including the risk of serious bodily injury, permanent disability, and death.
WAIVER OF MINOR'S CLAIMS: I hereby waive, release, and covenant not to sue the Released Parties (as defined above) on behalf of the minor, with respect to any and all claims, including claims of negligence, arising out of the minor's participation in the Event. I understand that I am waiving the minor's legal rights as well as my own.
WAIVER OF PARENT/GUARDIAN'S CLAIMS: I further waive, release, and covenant not to sue the Released Parties with respect to any and all claims that I, as parent or guardian, may have arising out of the minor's participation in the Event, including but not limited to claims for loss of consortium, medical expenses, or wrongful death.
INDEMNIFICATION: I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from any and all claims brought by or on behalf of the minor, or by any other party, arising out of the minor's participation in the Event.
TRAFFIC LAW COMPLIANCE: I have instructed the minor on the requirement to obey all traffic laws during the Event, including stopping at all stop signs and obeying all traffic signals. I understand that the minor is solely responsible for complying with all traffic laws and that failure to do so may result in serious injury or death.
SUPERVISION: I understand that GLA and the Released Parties are not responsible for supervising the minor during the Event. I accept full responsibility for the minor's conduct, safety, and decision-making during the Event.
MEDICAL AUTHORIZATION: In the event of an emergency involving the minor, I authorize Event medical personnel to provide first aid and, if deemed necessary, to arrange for emergency medical transport. I understand that I am financially responsible for any medical treatment or transport the minor receives in connection with the Event.
I UNDERSTAND THAT BY SIGNING BELOW, I AM GIVING UP THE MINOR'S LEGAL RIGHTS AND MY OWN LEGAL RIGHTS TO SUE THE RELEASED PARTIES FOR THEIR OWN NEGLIGENCE. I DO SO VOLUNTARILY AND WITH FULL KNOWLEDGE OF THE CONSEQUENCES.
