ALOHA RUNNERS! Welcome back to the 2026 Boca Hawaii Norman Tamanaha 15K and 5K, the first race in the Marathon Readiness Series.

Welcome to the first race in the 2026 Marathon Series. The Boca Norman Tamanaha 15K was first run in 1978 and has been a local running staple for over 45 years. Named after Norman Tamanaha, a pioneer of running in Hawai'i, this is a rolling and scenic 15k course with a fun 5K run/walk option as well.

New this year we have a few improvements:

• Upgraded fully custom tech shirts for the first 500 entrants. We'll be posting a design soon and if you were there last year you'll know that these were awesome shirts!

• Custom finisher medals for BOTH the 15K and 5K events.

• MORE Porta potties at the start just in case the regular restrooms at the park don't open early like they are supposed to.

This course covers the midcourse and finishing sections of the marathon route. The race begins with a lap around Kapiolani Park and heads over scenic Diamond Head, continues around the crater until you come to a right turn on to 18th Ave then right on Kilauea Ave to the Aloha Gas Station and follows the marathon route on Kahala Ave back to the finish line in Kapiolani Park.

Overall Winners
The top 3 male and female finishers in both the 15K and 5K will take home awards.

Age Group Prizes
15K: Top 3 male & female in each age group: 14 & under, 15–19, then every 5 years up to 85+
5K: Top 3 male & female: 9 & under, 10–14, 15–19, 20–29 then every 10 years up to 80+

Finisher Medals
Every single runner who crosses the finish line gets a medal. You earned it!

AID STATIONS
Water & Gatorade will be available at 3 aid stations: Mile 2.5 (Leahi/Triangle Park), Mile 5 at the Aloha Gas Station (corner of Kilauea & Kealaolu Ave), and Mile 7.5 (Leahi/Triangle Park). We are adding an aid station at approximately the halfway point of the 5K as well.

• 5k starts at 6:30am

PACKET PICKUP

• DAY ONE: Friday, August 7 — 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM — BOCA Hawai'i (Kaka'ako Store)

• DAY TWO: Saturday, August 8 — 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM — BOCA Hawai'i (Kaka'ako Store)

PARKING
Parking is available anywhere around the park as long as there are no signs indicating otherwise.
