Iowa isn't know for its long and challenging climbs, but that's what makes the Soldier Cutoff Hillduro such an amazing event. With 4 categorized climbsβ¦ which is 4 more than just about any event in Iowa, this route will challenge you. But, it's all worth it.Β
The Loess Hills in September are absolutely magical and there's a reason people come back year after year to challenge themselves and others on this course that brings both the joy and the pain of gravel racing.
Plan to stay the night in the Pisgah City Park, Preparation Canyon, or the Loess Hills State forest. There are a lot of great and unique places to pitch a tent or park a camper and every site has a view that just won't disappoint.
Included in your race pace registration:
- Post-race meal ticket
- Number plate and timing
- Clearly marked route, downloadable queue sheet, and GPX files
- Aid station with water and snacks
- Event photography
- Some good memories and fun!

Sweeper

Sweeper are some of our favorite people and riders and racers love them too. Interested in being loved by all, well then this is the job for you. As a sweeper, your job is to drive the course (trucks or SUVs with bike racks are best) and support any rider that might be stopped along the course. You stay behind the last rider and make sure that everyone is off the course. You also pick up the signs we use to mark the course. It's a great role for someone that loves helping people, enjoys driving in some of the most beautiful parts of Iowa, and can help folks load a bicycle onto a truck or bike rack. We do use MMR, Class B, and dirt roads, so you should be comfortable traversing "sketchy" areas.

Evening Packet Pickup

Like to give people stuff and check names off of lists? Than this is the job for you. The night before the race, folks drop by to grab their bib, check-in, pick up shirts and swag, and hang out. It's a great time and it's fun to meet all the folks excited for the race.

Some folks can only check-in for the race in the morning, so your job is to be a bright and early cup of good cheer for those getting their bib, checking in, and picking up their swag.
